Samuel Sidyno

South African Serial Killer Samuel Sidyno was sentenced to seven life terms in August of 2000 for the killings of two women and five boys in 1998 and 1999. DNA evidence linking Sidyno to the death of Pauline Ledwaba, plus his own confession (which he later recanted) proved this heinous murderer guilty. All the victims were found in close proximity to each other near the Pretoria Zoo. Despite leading police to one of victims’ decomposing corpse, Sidyno maintained his innocence throughout his trial.

Sidyno killed by strangulation, leaving his victims under hastily gathered piles of sticks and brush in a park next to the zoo. He had a couple of bizarre murderous habits, such as lining up the victims’ shoes neatly next to their body and re-clothing the corpses, with the exlcusion of their underwear. This serial murdering sexual sadist will be eligible for parole in forty years, though his sentencing judge declared him to impossible to rehabilitate.

Richard Ramirez

Richard Ramirez struck pure terror into the Los Angeles area in 1984-85 with his Satan-motivated sex crime spree of rape and murder. The Texas native was eventually convicted of twelve murders and a few dozen lesser crimes, including rape and burglary.
Ramirez usually struck in the early morning hours in towns al around L.A., taking advantage of unlocked doors and windows, creeping inside homes to rape and sodomize women before killing them. Any men were normally dispatched of with a close-range gunshot to the head. Since Ramirez was a known child-abductor it was odd that he largely left any children present alone during his home invasions. Nevertheless, the man known as “The Night Stalker” in the media paralized countless people with fear and drove any self-defense related weapon sales through the roof. His brutality and habit of attacking several times in a matter of day, even hours, put enormous pressure on police to capture the man who seemed as if he could slip away like a ghost.
Because he had left several surviving victims, Ramirez was eventually identified in August of 1985 and his picture plastered on the front page of every paper in L.A.

It does seem I’m finally stumped at Q – but I will be doing a lot more research to see what I can uncover for my serial killer non-fiction book.
For now, I bring you a little bonus, though he doesn’t fit with the letter – but how can I not bring him up?

Jack the Ripper

From August 7 to September 10 in 1888, “Jack the Ripper” terrorized the Whitechapel district in London’s East End. He killed at least five prostitutes and mutilated their bodies in an unusual manner, indicating that the killer had a knowledge of human anatomy. Jack the Ripper was never captured, and remains one of England’s, and the world’s, most infamous criminals.

Gordon Northcott

In February of 1928 the headless corpse of a small boy was discovered in a ditch in Puente, California. When two more Mexican boys, brothers aged eight and ten, went missing later that spring, investigators soon focused on Gordon Northcott. The ranchowner from Riverside made his guilt obvious by immediately fleeing to Canada. Police found the head of the boy found in Puente during their search of Northcott’s isolated home and soon arrested his teenaged nephew and his mother, Sarah, both of whom admitted assisting Northcott with the crimes.
Found and extradited back to the US, Northcott went to trial with his nephew as the star witness. The boy told the court how his uncle had sexually abused his victims and then beat them to death. Northcott defended himself and for some reason refused to plead any kind of insanity defense despite two psychiatrist’s opinion that he was mentally deranged. Subsequently found guilty, the child-killer was sentenced to death and hung on October 2, 1930.

Northcott’s nephew was set free in exchange for his testimony while Northcott’s mother, Sarah, was sentenced to life for assisting in one of the murders. Northcott eventually broke down just before his death and claimed to have murdered twenty little boys, though it should be noted that he had made several similar statements proved to be false.

Charles Manson

The first victims on the August 9, 1969 were guests at Roman Polanski’s Beverley Hills home at 10050 Cielo Drive, that included Sharon Tate the film director’s seven months pregnant wife. The following day Manson instigated another killing spree, this time at the home of wealthy couple Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary.
Manson chose four of his most obedient comrades, Charles ‘Tex’ Watson, Susan Watkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Linda Kasabian, to carry out these heinous crimes. Kasabian acted as the getaway driver and was to become the star witness during the trial.
The victims; actress Sharon Tate, writer Wojciech Frykowski and his partner the coffee bean heiress Abigail Folger, together with celerity hairstylist Jay Sebring, had all returned to the Polanski residence after dining out. Polanksi himself was away in London shooting a film.
Manson himself took no part in the actual killings, but directed his murderous disciples to the address and instructed them to kill everyone. The first victim was 18-year-old Steven Parent who was a friend of Tate’s gardener. He was shot as he just happened to walk down the drive and noticed the intruders.
Linda Kasabian was horrified by the shooting of the boy. She remained outside to keep watch. When the other three broke into the house they herded the occupants into the living room and tied them up.
Jay Sebring was shot and brutally kicked as he tried to defend Ms Tate. During the terrifying fracas both Frykowski and Folger managed to escape from the house but were chased and stabbed to death. At the trial Kasabian described how she saw Frykowski staggering out of the house covered in blood and was horrified at the sight. She told him she was ‘sorry’, but despite her pleas to his attacker to stop, the victim was bludgeoned repeatedly. Folger herself having escaped from the house with terrible injuries was caught on the front lawn and stabbed 28 times.
The most inhumane killing had to be of Sharon Tate, who despite pleading for the life of her unborn child was mercilessly stabbed in the stomach by Susan Atkins. Kasabian told of Atkins’ chilling words to Tate before she stabbed her.
“Look bitch, I have no mercy for you. You’re going to die and you’d better get used to it”
Atkins then used Tate’s blood to write the word ‘PIG’ on the front door.
Instead of this brutal massacre sating the pathological Manson, he instead criticized the murderers for being sloppy. The following night on the August 10, 1969, he took Family members Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten to the Los Feliz district address of wealthy supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary.
